Ruta de Tequila

A double-vision journey through the town of Tequila, told through Google Street View

Ruta de Tequila began as an exploration into whether I could use only the Google Earth web app and a Risograph printer to create a full-color publication. All of the pages below are designed using custom place markers ("pins") that were assigned custom icon images. These images came from Google Street View scenes of pedestrians, faded signs, and interiors. In some places, photo-stitching algorithms break down and a car becomes stretched and warped, or hillsides represented in 3D begin to melt into digital entropy. I battled with the constraints of the Google Earth interface throughout, forcing an abandonment of perfection in alignment or compositional goals. This interplay created something wonderfully chopped up and deep fried. Salud!
