Bay Area indie act Comfort Fashion came to me to lead design on their third album and first LP pressed on vinyl. Comfort Fashion builds complex worlds and lore in each release, both sonically and in accompanying visuals and materials.
Working off of scans of collaged items used by the band to create the main cover, I identified through-lines in the lyrics, soundscapes, and poetry that comprised the project.
Small-press vinyl has constraints on what you can do and how you do it, but working within those boxes to squeeze out complexity faithful to the dense nature of the material proved a welcome challenge.
